Video: Greg James persuades Glasgow teacher to ditch poetry and watch Scotland match with class

Some kids will go to great lengths to avoid an English lesson.

And pupils at Kelvinside Academy truly went the extra mile when they recruited Radio 1 DJ Greg James to help them get out of reading - and into football.

Smooth-talking Greg convinced teacher Douglas O’Neil to let his English class watch tomorrow’s Scotland v. Japan women’s world cup fixture - rather than learn about T.S. Eliot.

With a little help from football legend Alex Scott, the Mr O'Neil agreed to let his sixth form class skip the studying to view the all-important match.

Hilariously the teacher admitted he would allow his class watch the potentially history-making game because Scotland "never win at football".

In return Greg called the Glasgow-based teacher a "legend" - and we can't help but agree.

Don't forget to watch Greg James' response to Douglas decision above. Truly Class.
