Greg Hardy moved to UFC on ESPN 6, gets new opponent

Greg Hardy has a new opponent, date, and location for his fourth UFC bout.

Instead of partaking in his scheduled bout against Jarjis Danho at UFC on ESPN+ 20 in Singapore, Hardy (5-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) will now square off with promotional newcomer Ben Sosoli (6-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC).

A person with knowledge of the situation confirmed the news with MMA Junkie on Thursday night after an initial report from ESPN.

The reason for Hardy’s opponent swap-up is unknown at this time.

In his most recent outing in July, Hardy defeated Juan Adams by first-round technical knockout. Prior to that fight, Hardy finished Dmitrii Smoliakov by strikes at 2:15 into the first round.

His new opponent, Australia’s Sosoli, competed on the most recent season of “Dana White’s Contender Series.” After Sosoli accidentally eye-poked opponent Dustin Joynson in the eye in the first round, the bout was waived off and declared a no-contest. Following the bout, UFC president Dana White stated Sosoli would get a shot on an upcoming episode of “Dana White: Lookin’ for a Fight.”

Also an alumni of “The Ultimate Fighter,” Sosoli has won five bouts via KO/TKO.

The current UFC on ESPN 6 is as follows:

  • Dominick Reyes vs. Chris Weidman
  • Greg Hardy vs. Ben Sosoli
  • Maycee Barber vs. Gillian Robertson
  • Darren Stewart vs. Deron Winn
  • Joe Lauzon vs. Jonathan Pearce
  • Tanner Boser vs. Daniel Spitz
  • Diana Belbita vs. Molly McCann
  • Brendan Allen vs. Eric Spicely
  • Randy Costa vs. Boston Salmon
  • Sean Brady vs. Court McGee
  • Kyle Bochniak vs. Sean Woodson
  • Manny Bermudez vs. Charles Rosa
