Greg Docherty impresses as Rangers beat Leicester in Ibrox bounce game

Rangers outcast Greg Docherty was handed the opportunity to impress watching scouts during a bounce game with Leicester.

The Ibrox side ran out 3-0 winners with a fringe side - although it did include skipper James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Sheyi Ojo and Jermain Defoe.

It was mostly back-up players though with Andy Halliday, George Edmundson, Jamie Barjonas, Jamie Murphy, Matt Polster and Andy King all involved.

Docherty played the second half and grabbed a goal with a loan move likely to happen in the January window and Record Sport Online understands scouts were in attendance.

The former Hamilton midfielder hasn't played for Rangers since a Betfred Cup win over East Fife in August after rejecting the opportunity to go out on loan in the summer.

His lack of game time could see him head back out on a short term deal once more with his situation to be looked at again in the summer window.

The 23-year-old will still hope to make it as his boyhood heroes but the strength in depth in midfield has left it difficult for him to get a run of games.

Also on the scoresheet for the Ibrox side were Tavernier and Greg Stewart in a match intended to build match fitness ahead of the return of the Premiership.

Steven Gerrard's men take on Hamilton on Sunday at the Fountain of Youth Stadium.
