Greg Bolger on lookout for new club after Shamrock Rovers exit

Greg Bolger is on the lookout for a new club after confirming his exit from Shamrock Rovers.

The midfielder, 32, returned to action 10 days ago after five months out with a broken leg and came off the bench in the FAI Cup semi-final and the final defeat to Dundalk on Sunday.

But he revealed today that he was not offered a new deal by the league champions for the 2021 season.

"Sadly last Sunday was my last time wearing a Shamrock Rovers jersey,” he wrote in a social media post.

"The club informed me about three weeks ago so I was desperate to go out on a high. But luck wasn't on our side on Sunday unfortunately.”

Bolger continued: "I just want to thank the club, fans, players and the management for their support over the last three years.

“We've shared some great memories together which will last a lifetime with me. Being part of this club's history, I'll be forever grateful. Thank you.”

Wexford man Bolger won the league with St Pat’s in 2013 and followed it up with an FAI Cup success with the Saints the following year.

And he then won the league and FAI Cup double with Cork City in 2017 before joining the Hoops at the start of the 2018 season.
