A 52-year-old man has been charged with possessing child abuse material, following his arrest on Thursday.
The Greenway resident is alleged to have accessed child abuse material via peer-to-peer file sharing internet sites.
Assisted by police dogs, officers executed a search warrant of the man's residence after receiving information he had engaged with the sites, ACT Policing said.
Police allege a number of computer and data storage items were seized from the Greenway property and will be forensically examined.
The 52-year-old has subsequently been charged with one count of possessing child abuse material, with further charges expected as the investigation continued.
The man was scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on Friday.
Anyone with information regarding the accessing or creation of child exploitation material is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Information can be provided anonymously.
