POLICE are looking into a post shared by Green Party chief Zack Polanski after Reform complained it was inciting violence against their leader Nigel Farage.
Nigel Farage had called for Polanski to be arrested after he shared a post on Instagram in which a man attending a Green Party event in Bristol was wearing a T-shirt featuring a guillotine and the song lyrics "we're only making plans for Nigel".
The quote from the 1979 XTC track is thought to be referring to the Reform UK chief.
Reform alerted the police to the Instagram post, which has since been deleted.
The image was part of a series of photographs Polanski had been tagged in, and according to the Green Party of England and Wales, he removed the image as soon as he was made aware of it.
A spokesperson for the Met said: “On Monday, 27 July, we received a third-party report relating to an image shared on social media. We take reports of this nature extremely seriously, and officers are conducting enquiries into the matter.”
A Green Party spokesperson said: "After attending a public event, Zack accepted a request to collaborate on a post with several images.
"Once this image was brought to his attention he immediately unshared the post. He unequivocally does not support this type of dangerous message."
Farage had written on Twitter/X: “This is what Zack Polanski has just posted on his Instagram.
“If I was to post anything as inciteful then I would expect to be arrested, and so should Polanski.”
Right-wing media figures have been quick to share the incident widely, especially in the context of the recent murder of Reform spokeswoman Ann Widdecombe.
Zia Yusuf, Reform UK’s home affairs spokesperson, also invoked the murder of Widdecombe, writing: “Zack Polanski has posted to his 713k Instagram followers a photo of a man in a T-shirt calling for the beheading of Nigel Farage. To do this just two weeks after our friend Ann was murdered is staggering.
“Polanski is inciting murder. It must be treated as such by the police.”
Agitator Stephen Yaxley-Lennon (also known as Tommy Robinson) added: “The left wants us all dead. Whether it's Nigel Farage, Elon Musk or me."
