Greens by-election candidate suspended amid 'sexual misconduct' claims

The Scottish Greens candidate in the Clydebank Waterfront by-election has been suspended and reported to the police amid allegations of sexual misconduct.

Eryn Browning is no longer standing to be a West Dunbartonshire councillor, and all party campaigning has stopped.

According to the Daily Express, there are a number of allegations against Browning, including allegedly sending inappropriate messages to underage girls.

A Scottish Greens spokesperson said: "This individual was suspended from the Scottish Greens as soon as these allegations were known to us, with all local campaigning suspended.

"The Scottish Greens reported the situation to Police Scotland within 24 hours and will cooperate fully with any investigation."

A Police Scotland spokesperson: “On Wednesday, 30 April, 2025, we received a report regarding concerns linked to online communications. Officers will speak to the reporter to gather more information.”
