Greenock firebomb cops arrest twelve in connection with attack

Twelve people have been arrested and charged in connection with a string of firebomb attacks in Greenock and Inverclyde last year.

Cops have charged the twelve individuals in relation to seven incidents of wilful fireraising, which police believed to have been linked.

The incidents occurred between July and September 2020 in Union Street, Cumberland Road, Kincaid Court and Holmscroft Avenue.

Police say they have worked relentlessly to investigate these crimes and they are delighted with the outcome.

Detective Superintendent Gerry McBride of Renfrewshire and Inverclyde Division said: "Officers worked tirelessly to investigate this spate of crimes in what was a concerning time for the community.

"I would like to thank all those involved for their dedication and hard work as well as the public for their ongoing support.

"Enquiries remain ongoing and, as ever, we would encourage anyone with any information to contact police on 101, or via our dedicated email address OperationTell@scotland.pnn.police.uk or speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
