Actress goes from strength to strength

Many actors like to stay in their comfort zone. But others keep challenging themselves. Ausadaporn Siriwattanakul (Green) impressed audiences in the successful 2016 TV drama Khamin Gub Poon (Oil and Water) as Pathama, a character who goes insane.

Having proved her range as an actress, Green has been able to choose plenty of interesting parts since. Her latest role comes in the much-anticipated horror drama Buang Sabai (The Sash That Binds). She plays Putjeep, the daughter of a noble family who dies in mysterious circumstances, but comes back as a ghost to get her revenge.

Ahead of the show’s premiere on Channel 7, S Weekly caught up with the pretty 29-year-old to talk about her acting career and her latest role.

You started out as a singer. Why did you decide to move into acting?

Green: I got so many great offers that I couldn’t turn down. To begin with, I didn’t enjoy acting. But I worked on it until I improved. Eventually, I started getting leading roles. They were challenging but rewarding, and now I really enjoy acting.

How did you prepare for the part of Pathama?

Green: I went to a mental hospital to observe some of the patients. I realised that even though they had lost touch with reality, they seemed happy in their own worlds. I didn’t have much time to do research, but I used what I saw to develop the character.

Is it true that there’s some of your own personality in all the characters you play?

Green: Yes. It’s difficult for me to get rid of my personality for a role. Some Hollywood superstars spend months preparing for roles so that they can become somebody else entirely. I don’t have that much time, so there will always be a little bit of me in all my characters.

Can you tell us about your new role as Putjeep in The Sash That Binds?

Green: It was a challenging part. It’s a period drama, so there are many little details that you have to get used to. Some of the language from that period isn’t used anymore. As the daughter of a noble family, Putjeep has to move gracefully. I had to spend a lot of time working on my movement.

What was it like to work with Tubtim Anyarin and New Wongsakorn?

Green: They’re both very nice. When I felt stressed out after the dramatic scenes, New comforted me. And Tubtim is very friendly. We enjoyed chatting.

How do you deal with criticism?

Green: It’s difficult. The reality of a situation is often different from how it appears in the media. But I can’t go to everybody and tell them about it, so you have to move on. Everybody makes mistakes. And mistakes are lessons, so I don’t keep blaming myself. I try to move forward and be stronger.

Why did you decide to get a six-pack?

Green: I was too thin to wear many costumes. So I decided to build myself up physically. I worked out for about 45 minutes, three days a week. It didn’t take long for me to get a six-pack.
