Green travel list could have Majorca, Ibiza and Tenerife on it next week

Majorca, Ibiza and Tenerife have been mooted in a potential list of countries that could move from the amber to green travel list next week.

Liverpool Echo reports that next week's traffic light review could see around eight new countries moved over from amber to the 'safe to travel to' green list.

There are 12 countries in the green tier, with Portugal the most popular holiday destination on the list UK holidaymakers can visit with limited restrictions.

Holiday-makers will not need to self-isolate for 10 days after they return from green list countries.

However, travellers must take a Covid-19 test on or before day two after they arrive - children aged four and under do not need to take the test and people do not need to quarantine unless the result is positive.

According to the Evening Standard, Paul Charles, chief executive of the PC Agency travel consultancy, reckons that Majorca, Ibiza, Tenerife and Malta could be moved from the amber to green.

He believes that the Canary Islands, Finland, Jamaica, the Balearics, Barbados, Malta, Morocco and Grenada should also be added to the green list.

Robert Boyle, a former BA strategist, said that Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy and Luxembourg could be classified green.

He did add however that the US was "likely to just miss the cut this time round".

The Government has said it will review the green list every three weeks, meaning that the next review should be on June 7.
