Green Man festival tickets sold out in four hours, despite 'frustrating' ticketing system

Tickets to one of Wales' biggest music and arts festival have sold out in a matter of hours. The Green Man Festival is an independent music, science and arts festival held annually in mid-August near Crickhowell in Powys.

Tickets for next year's festival were on sale at 10AM on Thursday morning (September 29). At around 2:18PM on the same day, Green Man organisers announced on their Twitter page that all tickets were sold out. In a tweet, they wrote: "Green Man 2023 is now sold out!

"A momentous thank you to everyone for all the support, it means the absolute world to us! Now let the GM23 countdown commence! Big love, GM". But not everyone got the chance to buy their tickets.

Some took to social media to share their disappointment with the ticket buying process on Ticketline, and claimed that they had faced issues whilst using the website. On Twitter, Paul Wignall described the ticketing system as "shocking".

"An hour in, 5 crashes and starting again. Ticket line is shocking. Long time greenman attender", he said. Meanwhile, festival-goer, Lee Irwin, who managed to get a ticket said: "Finally got tickets. Ticketline isn’t the best, it does however look like they were hammered by Bots/Scalpers…are GM gonna look at punishing resellers and cancel these tickets and put them up for resale again? Seems a shame that real fans of GM will miss out due to this."

In response, Green Man organisers acknowledged that some potential festival goers had faced various issues and that this had been down to the website being under "heavy traffic". On Twitter, they said: "Demand for tickets was larger than ever before. We appreciate the ticket buying process can be frustrating & despite our best intentions the demand did sometimes get the better of the ticketing system & we apologise for this, we’re looking into ways to improve for next time."

Next year's Green Man festival will take place between Thursday, August 17 to Sunday, August 20.
