A crowd of 1000 will be able to attend St Johnstone’s friendly with Preston North End on Tuesday.
The Perth club, due to COVID-19 restrictions, have not had supporters watch action at McDiarmid Park since March 2020.
That was when Callum Hendry turned in a late Drey Wright cross to clinch three Scottish Premiership points against Livingston.
But now delighted fans are able to get back to cheering on their favourites. Cup double-winning favourites.
Entry, for now, will be for season tickets only via random ballot. Kick-off against the English Championship side is 7pm.
A Saints statement read: “After what has been a long and difficult absence for everyone, the club is delighted to announce that McDiarmid Park can reopen next Tuesday for the pre-season friendly against Preston North End.
“We are excited to accommodate 1000 supporters, and all these seats will be allocated to season-ticket holders.
“All current season-ticket holders will be placed in a ballot which will take place on Friday for the opportunity to cheer on the double cup winners from the stands.
“If successful, the supporter will be emailed an E-ticket and asked to bring a photo ID to show before entering the stadium.”
The Perth club went on to add that they are in dialogue with relevant authorities to hopefully increase capacity for the Fleetwood Town friendly on Saturday, July 24.
“Any available capacity will be offered to those season ticket holders unsuccessful in the first ballot,” the statement noted.
Saints take on Stenhousemuir in a behind-closed-doors friendly this Saturday before welcoming Preston on Tuesday.
