The next phase of expansion at a Birmingham tech campus has been given the green light by city planners.
Construction work can now start at Innovation Birmingham on the £30 million, 120,000 sq ft Enterprise Wharf building which will be home to digital and tech firms.
Alongside new office accommodation, there will be collaboration space, cycle storage and changing facilities and a roof garden as well as improved access to the adjacent Birmingham and Fazeley canal.
Enterprise Wharf, which will be 11 storeys, is due for completion in 2022.
It follows previous work there which has seen both the iCentrum and Universities Centre developments built on land next to the long-standing Faraday Wharf building in Holt Street.
Innovation Birmingham is owned by commercial property group Bruntwood SciTech and is already home to more than 170 businesses.
Last month, 5PRING, a new 5G commercial application accelerator programme led by telecoms giant O2, launched there.
Managing director David Hardman said: "The West Midlands is home to an ever-expanding digital tech ecosystem.
"Connecting start-ups with global corporates and the public sector is crucial to its evolution.
"Enterprise Wharf will help to expand our innovation community and the sector flourish."
The development was designed by Birmingham practice Associated Architects, with planning consultancy from Turley.
