Pupils at Toronto Primary School have been seeing the fruits of their labours.
Earlier this year the pupils planted fruit and veg in their allotment and the children recently harvested what they had planted.
The school’s Eco Committee did a fantastic job of supporting other classes to plant, grow and harvest their crops and the children decided to donate the food to West Lothian Foodbank to add to the collection of store cupboard foods families had already donated.
School cook Sharon also made a delicious rhubarb crumble with the rhubarb they picked.

Laura Gingell, head teacher, said: “They’re really hoping that the families who receive them enjoy having fresh, organic vegetables to eat.”
