Green double ton as WA pile on runs v Qld

Cameron Green has continued his summer run spree with 251 for Western Australia against Queensland. (AAP)

Insatiable West Australian allrounder Cameron Green claimed his first Sheffield Shield double century as his side set up a big first-innings total against Queensland at the Gabba.

At tea on day two, the Bulls were 1-69 in response to WA's 5-(dec)458.

The story of the day was again 21-year-old Green who brought up his double century early in the day before powering on to 251.

He struck 29 fours and five sixes in the 343-ball knock, reinforcing his enormous appetite for runs.

Green joins Will Pucovski (2018) and Tim Paine (2006) as one of just three players aged 21 or under to score a Shield double century in the past 27 years.

Sunday's knock was already his third century in three matches following 168 not out in the Shield match against South Australia on February 26 and 144 against the Redbacks in a one-dayer on Tuesday.

He'd also scored 201 not out in club cricket since completing his debut Test series against India.

Green was eventually out backing away driving, caught at long off from the bowling of Matt Kuhnemann (2-85), the pick of the Bulls' attack alongside Jack Wildermuth (2-60).

Kuhnemann also had Hilton Cartwright (96) caught short of his century when he mis-timed a pull to long on, the home side declaring shortly thereafter.

Joe Burns (34) was the man out for Queensland, caught at second slip by another former Test opener in Cameron Bancroft, off the bowling of Cameron Gannon (1-12).

Bryce Street (19) and Marnus Labuschagne (13) were the not out batsmen at tea.
