GREATER NOIDA: Parks in sectors Beta 1 and 2 have been neglected for long with greenery drying up in most, local residents have alleged while pointing to garbage piles lying on the streets in the area for weeks.
“There is no cleanliness in Sector Beta 1. There are piles of dust and horticulture waste on the roads. Apart from that, C&D waste is found on many internal roads of the sector. All of these have not been removed despite repeated complaints to the authority,” said Harinder Bhati, a resident of Sector Beta 1. Bhati said several local residents have written to Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority
(GNIDA) on the matter but there has been no response from the civic body.
“I, too, have written to GNIDA CEO and apprised him that apart from lack of sanitation, drains have also not been cleaned and bushes are not pruned. On top of that, the parks in both the sectors are in dilapidated conditions. The grass has dried up as no irrigation or water sprinkling has been carried out since January,” Bhati added.
The district forest officer PK Srivastava, who is responsible for one of the parks in the sector, has assured to look into the matter.
“It seems that the sector has been left to languish with no one accountable for its upkeep. While heaps of dried leaves are piled on every street and park, in some places, they are also burnt against the NGT guidelines.
In other places, cattle can be seen grazing the green grass on pavements, destroying the little greenery left. We have raised many complaints, but no contractor has paid any heed so far,” another resident of Sector Beta 1 said.
When contacted, senior officials of GNIDA maintained that due to new contracts handed over recently, there have been delays in work. “But we will look into the problem and have it resolved at the earliest,” said the official.
