Green City Market adds 3rd location at Soho House

June 11--Green City Market is adding another location beginning this Sunday in the lot behind Soho House, the hotel and members club at 113-125 N. Green St., in the Fulton Market District.

Expect five vendors this week at the new market, which will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., including Mick Klug Farms (St. Joseph, Mich.), Green Acres (North Judson, Ind.), Bennison's Bakery (Evanston), 1871 Dairy (Athens, Ill.) and Wisconsin Fermentation Co. (Hillsboro, Wis.).

Melissa Flynn, executive director of Green City Market, tells us the number of vendors will increase as more produce comes to market, but this third location will be held every second Sunday of the month through Oct. 11. The idea for the third location has been germinating since February.

This newest location brings to three the number of sites bearing the Green City Market banner and supporting sustainably grown food. The original Green City Market, now 17 years old is held Saturdays and Wednesdays at the southern end of Lincoln Park. Green City Market Fulton was launched last year. It opened for the season June 6 and is held Saturdays, at Fulton Market and Halsted Street, several blocks from the Soho House location.

So are there any other Green City Markets in the works? "Not at the moment," Flynn says. "But I would never say never."
