The Green Carpet Fashion Awards (GCFA) 2023 recently took place at NeueHouse Hollywood on March 9, 2023, in Hollywood, California. Led by founder Livia Firth, this annual event aims to bring together trailblazing women from various backgrounds through the intersection of fashion and entertainment.

The event saw prominent figures like Cate Blanchett, Tom Ford, and other Hollywood heavyweights co-chairing alongside distinguished individuals such as the Minister of Indigenous People of Brazil Sônia Guajajara and Ugandan climate justice activist Vanessa Nakate.

Originating as the Green Carpet Challenge in 2010, the GCFA officially commenced in 2017 in Milan, Italy, with a focus on sustainable fashion practices. Notably, during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the GCFA team innovatively created a movie out of the event, setting a new standard for virtual gatherings.

Reflecting on the significance of merging fashion and entertainment, Firth emphasized the importance of active citizenship and empowering voices that often go unheard. The event serves as a platform for diverse leaders and celebrities to come together and advocate for positive change.

Over the years, the GCFA has attracted A-list attendees such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Naomi Campbell, and Zendaya, highlighting the growing support for sustainable initiatives within the entertainment industry.

Through her work with Eco-Age and various global organizations, Firth has championed sustainability and women's rights, emphasizing the interconnectedness of her vision for a fairer world.

Looking ahead, Firth emphasized the need to cut through the noise and focus on humanity's core values. The GCFA's mission of rebuilding and fostering hope resonates strongly in today's world, where unity and sustainability are more crucial than ever.

The GCFA continues to engage Hollywood's biggest names by providing a safe space for meaningful dialogue on sustainability, ensuring that the message of environmental consciousness is effectively communicated without the risk of 'greenwashing'.

As the world grapples with various challenges, the GCFA stands as a beacon of hope and optimism, inspiring positive change through the power of fashion, entertainment, and collective action.
