Green Brigade unveil huge Celtic Park banner as ultra group send Tommy Burns message

Celtic fan group the Green Brigade have unveiled a huge motivational banner in their section of the stadium.

The Hoops had been yet to utilise fan banners to give Parkhead a touch of atmosphere before their decoration appeared.

Clubs like Rangers, Aberdeen and Dundee United have allowed fans to adorn their beloved stadium with flags but the Hoops had stuck to club advertising.

That has now changed dramatically with the enormous sign that appears to stretch across many tens of rows of seats.

Featuring a picture and quote from legendary former player and manager Tommy Burns it is sure to pull at the heartstings of any player walking out onto the pitch.

It reads: "When you pull on that jersey you are not just playing for a football club, you're playing for a people and a cause."

The move comes after Celtic's supporter's liaison officer John Paul Taylor revealed on Twitter the club would consider allowing fans to place banners in their empty ground to add vibrancy to the stadium last week.

Burns, who passed away in 2008 from cancer, is an iconic figure in the Celtic support due to his service to the club over the years.

Current boss Neil Lennon has been a backer of the sometimes controversial fan group and they famously arrived in their thousands before the Irishman's first home game as permanent boss against St Mirren back in 2010.
