Green Brigade's Neil Lennon protest dismissed as Celtic captain Scott Brown takes swipe at social media generation

Celtic captain Scott Brown has batted away protests from the Green Brigade over manager Neil Lennon's position.

The number 8, who has won nine titles on the spin at Parkhead, says it's time for everyone to come together.

Celtic sit 11 points behind Premiership leaders Rangers heading into the division's off-week and there have been vocal calls for the manager to step aside.

The prominent supporters' displayed a banner at Parkhead emblazoned with the message: "Save the ten - time to go Neil."

Brown, however, feels that message is not indicative of the majority of the Hoops support, and insists now is not the time to be divided.

"I think that's what you get in this day and age. It's all about social media and getting a picture for Instagram or Twitter," Brown said ahead of the trip to face Sparta Prague.

"We've got 100 per cent faith in the manager, he's been fantastic with us.

"The support we've had through Nine In A Row has been incredible, so just stick with us and make sure we're all together.

"We're pushing for something special. Everyone in that changing room is working extremely hard to try and get better on the park.

"We know the performances haven't been up to scratch and now is the time that we need to fix this.

"We need to make sure that we're fixing this extremely quickly because the manager and the backroom staff are working extremely hard.

"We need to make sure we do exactly the same."

Celtic are looking for a huge improvement on the performance they turned in in the reverse fixture, when they were humbled 4-1 by the Czech side at Celtic Park.

“The way we performed at home wasn’t Celtic, we let ourselves and the fans down. We’ve now got the opportunity to bounce back," Brown said on the match.

"It’s going to be a hard game, we need to try make the most of it. We need to play well and we owe the manager this one.”
