Green Brigade deck out Celtic Ultras section with Palestine flags ahead of final game of the season

Celtic’s ultras the Green Brigade have decked out their section of the ground with flags of Palestine ahead of the final home game of the season.

John Kennedy’s side face St Johnstone on Wednesday evening in what will also be Scott Brown’s last match at Celtic Park in the green and white hoops.

A wealth of tributes have been made to skipper Brown over the past few days but now the Green Brigade’s attention has again turned to their support for Palestine.

The region is yet again headline news around the world as ancient Middle Eastern tensions resurface with shocking violence erupting.

The UN fear a full-scale war after the exchange of fire between Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip and the Israel army escalated to worrying heights.

More than 43 Palestinians and six Israelis have been killed since the start of the week, shockingly with many children among the dead’s number.

Now Celtic’s ultras have offered solidarity with Palestine by again flying the regions flag.

The club has on more than one occasion been fined by UEFA for a section of its fans showing support for Palestine.

In 2018 Europe’s governing body, who ban political expression at games, were hit with a £8,615 fine after supporters flew Palestine flags before and during the Champions League clash with Israeli side Hapoel Beer Sheva.
