Greek restaurant plan for closed Nottingham shop

A vacant shop could soon become a new Greek restaurant under new plans. A shop in Berridge Road, which has been vacant for some time and was previously Umar Halal Meat and Food store, has been the subject of an application for a new restaurant.

The use of the property, in Forest Fields, would be changed from its previous retail use to a café/restaurant and hot food takeaway if proposals submitted to the city council are approved. Planning documents make clear the aim is for the restaurant to sell Greek food.

The outside of the old shop is expected to be redecorated and a seating area created for customers. A new kitchen space is proposed for food preparation, with other kitchen appliances added before the business is ready to open.

In a planning document, World Designs, on behalf of applicant Marra Mirjano, said: "The change will bring a new business to the area that has been empty some time. It will also look aesthetically pleasing for the area and serves many of the surrounding neighbourhoods." The application is currently pending consideration by Nottingham City Council.
