Greek coffee shop chain to open on Gloucester Road

A popular Greek coffee franchise looks set to open on Gloucester Road soon. Signage has been erected for Coffee Lab on a unit once home to Gareth Charles Hairdressing.

The franchise has more than 170 stores in Greece and a presence already in Cyprus, Egypt, England, Germany, Bulgaria and the UK. It boasts one of the largest in Eastern Europe, with a capacity of producing ten tons of coffee per day.

It will be Coffee Lab's third site in the UK after Manchester and Runcorn. It specialises in high quality coffee and also serves freddo (frozen) drinks, milkshakes and an array of pastries and desserts on the menu.

It also sells Nespresso machine capsules and 200g bags of ground coffee and beans. Coffee Lab started its journey from Chalkida in 2009 and is the first street coffee chain that fully implements the concept of 'third-wave coffee', a movement that focuses on high quality coffee and lighter roasts.

In 2012 the Coffee Lab company was established in its current form and in 2015 the development of the franchise network began.

It is not yet clear when Coffee Lab will be opening or if Gareth Charles Hairdressing is closing down. BristolLive has reached out to both companies for comment.
