"Greedy" Tyson Fury accused of running from Oleksandr Usyk fight despite deal

Oleksandr Usyk's fight with Tyson Fury is in doubt AGAIN as the pair argue over the contract.

The Ukrainian star is looking to solidify his legacy in the heavyweight division by challenging undefeated champion Fury for the undisputed titles this year. The pair have held extensive talks over a potential mega-showdown, which is currently targeted to take place on April 29 at Wembley Stadium.

Hope was provided for boxing fans this week with the pair reaching a public agreement on social media this week to stage the fight, with Usyk accepting Fury's proposal of a 70 per cent split in the Briton's favour. However, Fury has provided a fresh hurdle after he demanded a rematch clause in a video message on social media.

He shouted: "I’ve been speaking to the lawyers today, and Usyk’s people have been talking about rematch clauses and all that b******s. Here’s one to up the ante. How about there is no f***ing rematch clause, for both of us? How about that? Agree to that.”

Now Usyk's promoter Alex Krassyuk has suggested his fighter called Fury's bluff with the original purse agreement, and believes his fighter's rival has not even yet began training camp. He told talkSPORT: “As Usyk said, the greedy belly is still hoping to find a way to pull out. We knew before and know it now.

“As soon as Usyk accepts a no rematch clause there will still be searching for another thing to find and pull out the fight. I tell you why. He bluffed and Usyk called his bluff. This is 100 per cent. He didn’t expect Usyk to accept 70/30. He was not in a training camp and we say the next morning the theatrical performance that he was pretending to jog and fight someone in the ring.

“It’s all about nothing. He’s not prepared and scared to fight. He will try to find a way to avoid Usyk for as long as possible. We don’t trust him, we don’t believe him. One more thing to know, when we started the negotiations, Fury’s side was the first to ask for the rematch. Fury were the first to ask for the rematch and we supported this.”

Fans are becoming increasingly frustrated with the situation given talks have been rumbling on since the beginning of the year when the pair came face-to-face. Usyk could be ordered to face Daniel Dubois if a deal is unable to be reached, with the WBA challenger set to be ordered before the promoters informed the body a deal was close to agreement.
