'Greedy' - Alexis Sanchez slammed by Arsenal legend after Manchester United training claim

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has described Alexis Sanchez as “greedy” following his wish to quit Manchester United immediately after joining the club.

Sanchez signed for United in January 2018, leaving Arsenal as part of a swap deal involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

However, as the Chilean revealed on Instagram on Thursday evening, he wanted to quit United after just a single training session with his new teammates.

Nowadays, Sanchez is at Inter Milan, after failing to rediscover the sensational form he showed at Arsenal during his four-year stay with the Gunners.

The 31-year-old admitted that he spoke to his agent to try and get him a move back to the Emirates Stadium.

Former Gunners midfielder Parlour was shocked at the Chilean’s comments and labelled him as “greedy”.

Speaking on Friday’s talkSPORT Breakfast show, Parlour said: “I can’t believe you want to leave a club after one training session. How does that work?

“You’ve got to give yourself a chance; it’s new surroundings and a different way of training than at Arsenal.

“And it shouldn’t come down to wages, but he was on £560,000-a-week and he wants to leave straight away? You’ve got to work hard.”

There was plenty of speculation that Sanchez would join Manchester City, rather than United, but he opted with the latter.

The stumbling block in a potential move to the blue side of Manchester was Sanchez’s wage demands and City’s refusal to pay them, and when asked if Sanchez would’ve had a better time under Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium, Parlour interrupted and asked: “Why is he so greedy then?

“If he really wanted to join Man City, why didn’t he cut his wages down and say, ‘I’ll sign for £250,000-a-week?’. Surely he can live on £250,000-a-week?

“He got £560,000-a-week when he went to Manchester United. That’s scary. How can you say, as a player, when you turn up to a club you want to leave the next day? That’s not right. That mentality should not be in a footballer.”
