Greece recorded 293 new cases of coronavirus on Wednesday - the highest number since the crisis began.
The country is experiencing a surge with the previous record standing at 284 cases reported on Sunday.
The spike in new cases has sparked fear that the country could be stripped from the UK's safe list if numbers continue to rise.
There was also a rise in the number of patients in intensive care, to 33 from 31 the day before.
Three more people died bringing the total fatalities to 248, while the current number of infections stands at 9,280, officials said.
Of the new cases, 22 were identified at the country’s borders from tests on incoming holidaymakers.
A seven-day rate of 20 Covid-19 cases per 100,000 people is the threshold above which the UK Government considers triggering quarantine conditions.

While it hasn't breached the threshold of 20 cases per 100,000, the increase from 13.5 up to 14.1 is likely to see the rate scrutinised.
An announcement is expected today on the weekly quarantine review, with Switzerland expected to be taken off the list with a rate of 21.2.
Jamaica and the Czech Republic are also possible contenders, with the current rate of infection at 19.9 and 19.4 respectively.
Now Greece has introduced a number of strict new measures to try and control the spread of the virus.
In the popular holiday destination of Lesvos, Mykynos, the coastal region of Halkidiki and and the Chania region of Crete, all gatherings are limited to nine people, indoors and outdoors.
Only four people or six close relatives are allowed to share a table at restaurants.
Masks are compulsory in all public spaces, indoors and outdoors.
The strict restrictions have also been imposed on the islands Paros and Antiparos, where all live events and celebrations are banned.
All holidaymakers travelling from an area with high coronavirus rates should wear a mask while outside anywhere in Greece.
