Greater Manchester weather forecast as temperatures set to plummet this week

Looks like it's time to get the big coat out.

Temperatures are set to plummet across Greater Manchester this week as winter finally begins to bite.

Clear skies mean there's a widespread risk of frost across the region tonight (Sunday) - and it's set to stay chilly for the rest of the week.

Thursday looks set to be the coldest day of the week, with temperatures forecast to drop to 0°C overnight, while only reaching 6°C during the day.

But the good news is it looks likely to remain largely dry until the weekend.

The Met Office forecast for North West England says tonight (Sunday) skies will stay staying 'largely clear with winds also easing'.

It adds: "This allows temperatures to drop, resulting in a cold night with the risk of frost quite widely across the region. Minimum temperature -2 °C."

There will be a 'chilly start' to Monday, 'but a sunny and dry day follows with clear skies and light winds'

Temperatures are slightly closely to average for the time of year, but will 'still feel on the cold side'.

Tuesday looks 'increasingly cloudy' but largely dry.

Forecasters say 'outbreaks of rain' could develop on on Wednesday before it turns 'brighter, breezier, and colder' again on Thursday.
