Greater Manchester's latest Covid infection rates borough-by-borough

Coronavirus infection rates are continuing to rise steadily across most of Greater Manchester.

Nine of the region's 10 boroughs saw a week-on-week increase in C ovid cases, the latest figures show.

Only Manchester saw its infection rate fall.

Oldham continues to have the highest infection rate in the region.

The borough recorded a rate of 658.3 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending July 12, according to the latest data from Public Health England.

The lowest infection rate is in Bolton, where the rate is 347.4 cases per 100,000 people.

Across Greater Manchester the infection rate is now 517.9 cases per 100,000 population. The national average is 378.1.

A total of 14,686 people tested positive for coronavirus across Greater Manchester in the week to July 12.

That's up by 1,216 cases compared to the previous week, an increase of nine per cent.

Hospital admissions

A total of 308 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19 in the week ending July 11. That's 70 more than the week before, a rise of 29%.

On Tuesday July 13, there were 59 mechanical ventilation beds occupied by covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That's the same as a week earlier.

This is the most recent available data for hospital admissions, the figures for NHS trusts are not updated daily.

Deaths

In the week ending July 12, a total of 32 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester, which is 12 more than the week before.

Cases reported in each of the 10 boroughs

Bolton , which has the lowest infection rate in the region, recorded 999 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending July 12, which is 87 more than the previous seven days.

The coronavirus infection rate in Bolton is now 347.4 cases per 100,000 people. That's up 10% week-on-week.

In Wigan , the latest infection rate is 579.0 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases has gone up by eight per cent.

A total of 1,903 people tested positive for Covid in Wigan over the seven days ending on July 12, which is 140 more than the week before.

Bury's latest infection rate is 446.1 cases per 100,000 people.

There were 852 cases recorded in the borough, which is 125 more than the previous week - a rise of 17%.

In Oldham , there were 1,561 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending July 12, which is 154 more than the previous seven days.

The infection rate in Oldham is up slightly compared with the previous day and the week-on-week trend is up by 11%.

Manchester saw a total of 2,776 cases in the week ending July 12, which is 159 fewer than the previous week. That's a fall of five per cent.

In Manchester, the most recent coronavirus infection rate is now 502.1 cases per 100,000 people.

Salford recorded 1,435 coronavirus cases, which is 121 more than the previous seven days.

The latest infection rate in the city is 554.4 cases per 100,000 people. That's up nine per cent week-on-week.

Trafford also saw an increase in cases.

There were 1,227 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending July 12, which is 33 more than the previous seven days.

That's a three per cent week-on-week increase.

The latest infection rate in Trafford is 516.9.

In Stockport , the number of cases is up by 24 per cent compared to the previous week - leaving the infection rate at 458.0 cases per 100,000 population.

There were 1,344 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending July 12, which was 261 more than the previous seven days.

There was a 14% rise in cases in Tameside over the week ending July 12, and the infection rate is now 499.8 cases per 100,000 population.

Tameside recorded 1,132 positive Covid-19 tests over the seven-day period, and that is 136 more than the previous week.

There were 1,457 positive tests over the last week in Rochdale , which is 318 more than in the previous week.

The week-on-week trend in Rochdale is up by 28% and the latest infection rate is 655.1 cases per 100,000 people.
