The UK property market enjoyed a mini boom when it reopened following the first national lockdown.
House prices increased by 2.4 per cent in July, compared to the period before lockdown, according to Rightmove.
But, if you're thinking this surge will mean it's nigh-on impossible to purchase a property at the moment, then don't lose all hope.
There are at least a dozen houses in our area, advertised on Rightmove at the moment, that come in at £50,000 and even less.
The slashed prices mean that some of these bargains do need a lot of energy and cash spent refurbishing them, the type of deal that tends to attract seasoned investors.
Nonetheless, these listings do indicate where buyers are most likely to find affordable family housing in Greater Manchester's fast-moving property market.
The majority on offer are up for online auction, so you'll have to be ready on the date to put in a bid - and in a position to move fast once you have.
Louise Street, Smallbridge
A one-bedroom terrace in Rochdale is up for auction for £50,000, located in the foothills of the Pennines in Smallbridge, close to the A58.
It's got a roomy lounge with a feature fireplace, a modern kitchen, a large bedroom with fitted wardrobes and a fully tiled bathroom.
The one-bed is on a cul-de-sac location with on-street parking, and has a communal courtyard to the rear.

This three-bedroom semi-detached house in Wigan - Greater Manchester's most affordable town - is on auction for £50,000.

It's located just off Warrington Road (A58), with local amenities, schooling and transport links close by.

Situated in Greenacres, Oldham, it's not far from the A6, and has s a lounge, kitchen, two bedrooms, and a bathroom.

This two-bed mid-terrace is on sale for just short of £50k at £49,995. It's in the centre of market town Ashton-in-Makerfield, which is served by the M6, and close to Haydock racecourse.

It comes with an enclosed yard to the rear, a living room, bathroom, a good-sized kitchen, central heating and UPVC double glazing, but it needs modernising.
