Greater Manchester's 10 walk-in Covid vaccine clinics open this weekend

Several vaccination clinics across Greater Manchester are now allowing over-18s to simply turn up to be jabbed.

People aged over 40, or who work in healthcare, care or who are at greater clinical risk and had their first dose at least eight weeks ago, can also turn up to have their second jabs.

There are facilities open this weekend in Salford, Manchester, Bolton, Oldham and Tameside.

It comes as infection rates in some parts of Greater Manchester continue to rise, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

Salford continues to have the highest rate in the region, with a borough rate of 336.9 per 100,000 people in the week ending June 14 - which is more than three times higher than the England average.

As of Friday, everyone over the age of 18 can be vaccinated without needing to meet specific criteria.

It comes as Dr Jenny Harries, chief executive of the UK Health Security Agency, said the case increase across the UK is being driven by younger age groups, many of whom have now been invited for a vaccination.

Public Health England has said case rates in England among all age groups are continuing to rise and the highest rate is among 20 to 29-year-olds, with 195.9 cases per 100,000 people in the seven days to June 13, up week-on-week from 123.6.

NHS England says: "If you haven’t had your Covid-19 vaccine yet, why not pop along to one of a number of participating walk-in clinics taking place across the North West this weekend?"

Here are the guidelines which make you eligible for a first or second dose.

First doses – If you’re 18-plus, you can head over to any of the clinics for your first dose of the Pfizer vaccine, with no appointment needed.

Second doses – A number of sites will also be offering walk-in second doses of the Pfizer and AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine to people age 40+, health and care workers, unpaid carers and those at greater clinical risk who had their first dose at least eight weeks ago. Please check the list below to find out which locations are offering this service. Your second dose will be the same vaccine as your first dose.
