Greater Manchester braced for more snow disruption as Met Office issues yellow weather warning

Greater Manchester is set to receive another dusting of snow this week - and it's likely to bring disruption.

The white stuff could start falling across some parts of the region from Monday night.

Difficult travelling conditions are expected as the Met Office issued a weather warning for snow and ice.

The yellow-coded alert is currently in place from 10pm on Monday, until 23.59pm on Tuesday, and covers the whole of Greater Manchester.

"Snow, with a risk of widespread ice, is likely to push slowly northeast during Tuesday, bringing difficult travel conditions," the forecaster said.

The adverse weather could bring travel delays on the roads, with a chance that some rural communities could be cut off.

Power cuts may occur and there is a chance of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces, the Met Office have warned.

The forecast for Sunday evening is set to remain dry, and cold over night, with an expected minimum temperature of -3 °C.

Monday is likely to begin with a frost and spells of sunshine.

Cloud is expected to form later in the afternoon, with overnight rain and snow forecast for many.

Temperatures throughout the day could rise to 6 °C but are set to plummet by the evening - when snow is most likely to fall.

Tuesday is likely to start with heavy rain and is likely to remain cold, with outbreaks of snow possible on Wednesday and Thursday.

Greater Manchester has woken up to a dusting several times since the start of 2021.

Last week, Storm Christoph brought heavy rain which saw some people in south Manchester evacuated from their homes.

The rain was quickly replaced by a snow blizzard, leaving most parts of the region with a heavy layer of the white stuff.

Whilst the Met Office's latest weather warning is due to end on Tuesday night, the region's cold snap is set to continue for most of the week.
