Greater Birmingham and Solihull Training Provider Network celebrates city region's top apprentice

A network of training providers across the West Midlands is sponsoring the top prize at our Birmingham Apprentice Awards 2020.

Greater Birmingham and Solihull Training Provider Network (GBSTPN) was established in the 1990s with the aim of sharing best practice among its members.

It is supporting our annual celebration of the apprenticeship movement by sponsoring the Apprentice of the Year category which will be chosen from the winners of our five individual awards.

The online event tomorrow night will hand out a total of 11 separate individual and team awards.

GBSTPN draws together a group of providers from across the city region to share the latest information, support and opportunities for apprenticeships, traineeships, study programmes and other work-based learning programmes.

It aims to increase social mobility and provide employment opportunities for learners while working alongside key industry stakeholders such as Greater Birmingham and Solihull LEP, the combined authority and Ofsted among many others.

It also collaborates in peer review and development groups and takes part in tenders.

Derrin Kent, managing director of The Development Manager and a member of the network, said: "GBSTPN works hard with key national stakeholders to provide meaningful work-based learning opportunities in the region.

"We are excited to be able to celebrate the successes and achievements of apprentices in Birmingham and are proud to be sponsoring the Apprentice of the Year Award."

The awards are run in conjunction with the Ladder for Greater Birmingham campaign, an initiative launched in 2018 aimed at creating 1,000 new apprenticeships in Birmingham and Solihull.
