Great white sharks filmed stalking paddleboarders just off US coast

Two paddleboarders have filmed the terrifying moment 9ft great white sharks stalked them for half an hour.

The clip, shot in Carpinteria, California, shows one of the "curious" predators lurking just below the surface as friends Kelly Smith and Duke Howard paddled close to the east coast shore.

"Right on your tail," Kelly can be heard saying as a fin pokes ominously out of the water, before unfazed Duke replies "so majestic isn't it".

The sharks were about nine-feet long, according to the pair, who had both seen great whites before but were being careful nonetheless.

"I wasn't scared, but I felt my body and mind go into full alert mode," Kelly told KEYT .

"I've studied white sharks extensively and I knew these were juveniles, and they eat fish and rays, not humans.

"But even so these babies have very sharp teeth."

The pair spent around half an hour with them before heading back to shore, with Duke adding he has seen plenty of young sharks there previously but not for "quite some time".
