Great white shark stalks fishing boat before lunging out of the water and attacking it

A great white shark has been filmed approaching fishermen and viciously attacking their boat.

Footage shows the predator stalking Arron Piekarski's vessel as he was fishing around South Australia's Spencer Gulf.

In the video, the shark's fin can be seen lurking above the surface of the water as it approaches the boat.

Shortly after, the 12ft animal lunges out of the water and begins to bite on the vessel.

It then disappears underwater before re-emerging and attacking the boat once more.

Despite the scary encounter, the fishermen seem to remain calm.

The person filming the scene even puts the camera underwater, before saying: "Look at the size of this sucker.

"I would have gone closer but I was worried it was gonna hit the boat and drop my camera in the water."

The great white shark is one of the most feared wildlife species.

Of the 63 fatal shark attacks ever recorded, 27 have occurred in Australia, Underwater Australia reports.
