Video taken by researchers with the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries and the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy shows the moment a great white shark leaps into the air to catch a seal jumping out of the Atlantic waters, only to narrowly miss grabbing the creature in its huge jaws.
The footage was shot off Cape Cod during a white shark research trip taken on August 17 2015.
On August 14, twp Cape Cod beaches were closed after people had spotted a great white shark biting a seal and spitting it back out onto the beach.

Officials say two Cape Cod beaches closed after visitors spotted a great white shark biting a seal and spitting it back out onto the beach. People on the beach said a pool of blood formed just off the beach and that the seal died as it lay on the sand after being bitten.
Beachgoers at Nauset Light in Eastham, Massachusetts, saw the shark attack the seal at around 4 p.m. Wednesday, which resulted in a pool of blood. The seal was then thrown out of the water onto the beach, where it died.
