Great Western Road's Bar Brett broken into as west end businesses targeted in lockdown

Owners of popular west end wine venue Bar Brett have hit out at heartless thieves who broke into the Great Western Road venue.

The 'tasteless' duo are understood to have robbed the till in under 30 seconds before fleeing. Police were called to the scene shortly after 9pm last night.

The team behind Bar Brett have since taken to social media to share a photo of a smashed window while issuing a warning to other venues in the area - it's reported a number of businesses in the west end were targeted

They commented on Instagram: "Unfortunately last night Brett was broken into and robbed. It’s a tough one to take on the same day the country was put into another lock down, however the tasteless pair went straight for the cash and decided not to touch the amazing wines we have.

"They were in and out with the till in less than 30 seconds.

"The bad news is that we are shut today while the police carry out their forensics.

"We are so sorry to hear that a few other places were broken into last night so please keep your shops and restaurants secure."

Police have confirmed they've launched an investigation into the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 9.10pm on Monday, 4 January, police received a report of a housebreaking at Bar Brett on Great Western Road, Glasgow.

"Enquiries are continuing."
