The road was closed for five hours while investigations into the incident were carried out. It reopened around 10.20pm. Police are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
Sergeant Chris Hoggans said: “We believe the injured man may have been on a bus and just alighted when the incident happened. We are keen to speak to anyone on the bus as they may have important information that could help with our enquiries.
“We would also like to speak to anyone else who was in the area and may have seen what happened, including road users with dash-cam footage that might help our investigation.
"Anyone who can help is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2529 of Friday, 6 January, 2023."
