Great Scottish Run in pictures: Thousands take to the streets of Glasgow for annual event

Thousands of people took to the streets of Glasgow today for the Great Scottish Run .

The 10k and half marathon races snaked throughout the city for the annual event which sees amateur and elite athletes compete.

Runners started in George Square in heart of the city, crossed the River Clyde and passed famous landmarks including The Hydro, The Finnieston Crane, Pacific Quay , McLellan Arch before finishing up at Glasgow Green .

As competitors pounded the streets family and friends took to the pavements to cheer them on throughout the course of the day.

The 11th annual event, which runs on Saturday and Sunday, will be heading back to Glasgow next year on October 4.

Our photographers have been out and about capturing the best images of the day, so have a look at the gallery to see if you appear.
