Michael Dawson senses a "great opportunity" for Nottingham Forest.
The Reds face Stoke City away in the Championship on Friday night (8pm) - and victory would lift Sabri Lamouchi's side above Leeds United and Swansea to the top of the table.
Forest go into the match on a seven-match unbeaten run in the league, while Stoke are languishing down in 23rd place in the table with just two points from eight matches.
“It is a great opportunity, after eight or nine games to see where we could be,” said Dawson.
“You look at the points, it is great to play on Friday night as you can sit back on the Saturday and see the results. But it is only great if we can go there and win.
“You always want to be top, but the main thing is where we are in May, that is what our aim is. We have the opportunity to go top, it is a great opportunity. We have put ourselves in this position and hopefully we can take it."
