Missing police dog Bravo found south of Brisbane

A police dog that went missing from his handlers' home south of Brisbane two nights ago has been found by a member of the public.

The six-year-old black German shepherd, named Bravo, was off duty when he was last seen in Regents Park at 8:00pm on Friday.

A search was launched in the area involving several police officers including members of the dog squad.

Queensland Police Service said PD Bravo was handed into Logan Central Station this morning.

In a statement, QPS said it was "great news".

"The Queensland Police Service (QPS) would like to thank the community for their assistance in getting the word out," the statement said.

The dog has been taken to a veterinary clinic as a precaution.

PD Bravo was involved in a 2016 incident on the Gold Coast in which he was attacked by another dog while on the job.

He was tracking an alleged offender in bushland in Coomera when the dog mauled him.

Police were forced to fatally shoot the other dog and PD Bravo suffered serious facial injuries.
