- Paul Topham has been convicted of murdering 94-year-old Harold Monk during a burglary at Mr Monk's Wolverhampton flat on 3 October 2024.
- Mr Monk died the day after suffering a "brutal and sustained attack" when he confronted Topham, who had broken into his home.
- The victim's account to West Midlands Police before he died was "absolutely instrumental" in securing the conviction against Topham.
- Topham received a life sentence and will serve a minimum of 33 years in prison for the murder.
