An adventurous great grandad is hoping to raise hundreds of pounds for charity with a zip slide across the Clyde.
82-year-old John, from Houston in Renfrewshire, is relishing the challenge he's taking on next weekend in support of St Vincent's Hospice.
He's hoping his efforts will raise £400 for the Renfrewshire-based hospice, and thanks to the generosity of donors he's already eclipsed the £300 mark.
Family member Kim Cleland, who had to set up a JustGiving page for John "because he was too embarrassed!", says: "On the 8th of September our very brave great grandad is going to climb up a crane and zip slide across the River Clyde to raise money for St Vincent's hospice.
"He is not letting the fact that he is terrified of heights, or that he is an octogenarian (82!), get in his way.
"We are very proud and want to do all we can to help him raise money for a cause that is important to him.
"He is also doing it the week before he and our great gran celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary so we had better get him across in one piece!"
"We would be very grateful for any donations and hope to draw a crowd to cheer him on so if you are free on Saturday September 7 at 3pm, please come along to the crane at Pacific Quay."
