Great British Pub Awards 2019 shortlist includes four North East pubs

They are considered the Oscars of the pub industry and the reveal of the Great British Pub Awards shortlist makes great reading for four North East venues.

The Great British Pub Awards, run by leading trade magazine the Morning Advertiser, are viewed as the stand-out event for pub operators throughout the country.

With 16 categories to suit the many varied styles of the modern day British pub – from staples such as Best for Beer, Best for Food & Best for Cider ,  through to newer category Best for LGBTQ+ –  there is a category for every kind of pub owner, providing a golden opportunity for top operators to get some recognition and reward.

And among the pubs to make the cut is The Bamburgh Castle Inn in Seahouses which has made the shortlist in not one but two categories - Best Freehouse and Best Inn.

One of the finalists in Best for Family category is The Kings Head Inn in Whitley Bay.

And two Tyneside bars are in the running for Best for LGBTQ+ - The Yard in Newcastle and Storm Cellar in Whitley Bay.

The other nominees are City of Quebec in West London; The Fox in Loxley, Warwickshire; The Red Lion Inn, Raithby, Lincolnshire and Two Brewers, Clapham.

The winners of this year's Great British Pub Awards, will be revealed at a glittering award ceremony at The Royal Lancaster Hotel, London on September 5.
