Great British Menu: How to order Edinburgh chef contestants' food to enjoy at home

With the news that three of Edinburgh's top chefs are taking part in this year's Great British Menu - you may be wondering how to get a taste of the action for yourself during lockdown.

Roberta Hall-McCarron from The Little Chartroom, Scott Smith from Fhior and Stuart Ralston from Aizle/Noto will be battling it out against some of the UK's best chefs for a place in the BBC show's final.

There will be three episodes a week for eight weeks covering each regional heat from across the UK before the finals week culminating in the Banquet.

The best news of all, however, is that you can in fact ' dine-a-long ' with the series as it airs, as two of the chefs who feature in the show offer at home dining kits from their restaurants.

Here's how to order from each:

The Little Chartroom

The Little Chartroom have a weekly changing at-home dining menu (The Little Chartroom)

Roberta's Leith Walk restaurant offers home deliveries of a weekly changing menu every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Every weekend you can order a three course meal for two people with a bottle of wine to accompany - the delivery comes with cooking instructions as some elements do need to be finished at home before serving.

This week's menu - in collaboration with Wander from Stoke Newington, London as part of International Women's Day - looks like this:

Starter

Cured Sea trout, sea buckthorn ponzu, fennel, cucumber

Main

Flat-iron steak, vegemite jus & creamed corn

Bitter leaves & buttermilk dressing

Dessert

Yorkshire rhubarb & lemon myrtle custard trifle

Cheese as a fourth course (£7 supplement per person)

Potted Tunworth, seedy crackers, jam

To order visit the restaurant's Shopify page here.

Fhior

Great British Menu contestant Scott Smith offers at-home dining options from his restaurant Fhior (Instagram/Fhior)

Until restaurants can reopen, Scott Smith's Broughton Street restaurant Fhior is continuing to cook up special ‘at home’ menus for you to finish with minimal effort.

Fhior deliver to all addresses within postcodes EH1 to EH17 every Saturday with a new menu every week, with the option to add oysters, wine or cheese to every home dining kit.

Next weekend's menu (Saturday 20 March) looks like this:

Starter

Smoked mussel and wild leek chowder

Main

Braised ox cheek with creamed barley and ransoms, fermented white cabbage and “MSG” spring greens

Dessert

Seabuckthorn and crowdie cheesecake with almond praline

Order yours here.

Aizle/Noto aren't currently offering at home-dining but keep up to date with any developments here on their Instagram.

The 2021 series of Great British Menu starts on Wednesday 24 March on BBC Two at 8pm.
