Great British BBQ Off: Rahul serves up ‘disgrace of a pitta’ as he struggles with Bake Off camp-fire

Rahul came close to breaking point after he served up a “disgrace of a pitta” during the Great British Bake Off final.

Rahul, Kim-Joy and Ruby were tasked with making six pitta breads with a salsa dip in a Bake Off first which saw them step outside the white tent to cook on a camp fire for the Technical Challenge.

Rahul, who has spent the entire series bemused, looked more befuddled than ever as he struggled to heat the open pit and settle on the optimum temperature for his bread creation.

“I don’t know what I’m doing,” he cried as he stoked the coals.

Bemused: Rahul served up burnt pittas (Channel 4)

But things went from bad to worse after he burnt his bread into oblivion and declared: “I wouldn’t eat it.”

“It’s actually on fire,” he said before attempting to blow on the coals.

He continued: “This one is like the sole of a shoe. That is completely burnt. Disgraceful again. I wish I could scrape off the burned bits. Just utter disgrace of a pitta.”

Viewers were in hysterics after he declared he needed a “glass of milk” to calm down.

One tweeted: “Rahul honestly cracks me up, ‘I’m going to have my glass off milk’ best line from him- ‘this is a disgrace of a pitta bread. A DISGRACE’ #GBBO2018 #BakeOff.”

Another wrote: “’It’s a disgrace!’ Rahul feels more shame over a mildly burned pitta than modern politicians do over major scandals. ‘Burned pitta? For me, that’s a resigning issue.’ #gbbo.”

But he managed to avoid last place coming second to Kim Joy in first and in front of Ruby in third.

The Bake Off final saw the contestants tasked with making doughnuts in the Signature Challenge and a visually stunning biscuit and cake taste sensation Showstopper.
