Great British Bake Off winner Giuseppe gives heartwarming update on bakers

Winner of The Great British Bake Off Giuseppe Dell'Anno has given a heartwarming update about this year's bakers.

It's almost a week ago that Channel 4 viewers saw the Italian engineer crowned winner of the 2021 competition.

Giuseppe fought off competition from Crystelle Pereira and Chigs Parmar for this year's title.

The finalists were tasked with making exquisite carrot cakes, Belgian buns, and a showstopper dessert inspired by the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party from Alice In Wonderland featuring sweet and savoury treats.

Appearing on Lorraine Kelly's self-titled ITV show on Monday, Giuseppe opened up about his win.

But he also delivered the news all fans would have been hoping to hear.

When asked by Lorraine, 61, if everyone has managed to keep in touch since the Channel 4 show wrapped in July, he said: "We've got a WhatsApp group and they’re the first people I speak to in the morning and the last people I speak to in the evening.

"I’m hoping it’s going to last because I love all of them," he added.

Bake Off fans were left in tears at the end of last week's final, which was watched by the show’s crew after they formed a "bubble" in Down Hall Hotel, in Hertfordshire, throughout the duration of filming.

The end of the latest series gave an update on what all 12 bakers had been up to since filming had ended - and it saw many of the contestants meeting up.

Freya and Lizzie even kickstarted it all by going on a massive road trip, checking in with the other contestants in their hometowns along the way.

It was revealed that 6.9 million viewers tuned in to see the winner of Bake Off 2021 crowned.

Giueseppe took the crown despite coming last in the final technical challenge of the series and oven issues in the showstopper.

Both Dame Prue Leith and fellow judge Paul Hollywood said the final was the closest yet – each contestant having received two coveted “Hollywood handshakes” and two star baker awards during the series.
