Great British Bake Off fans say Scots student Peter is 'adorable' as he wins hearts

The Great British Bake Off has returned to TV screens as contestants show off their skills in a bid to impress the judges in the latest series.

And Peter Sawkins, the only Scottish baker on the Channel 4 show, has already won the hearts of fans - with some calling him "adorable".

The 20-year-old Edinburgh student was crowned the first episode's 'star baker' for his incredible 3D edible bust of Scots cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy.

During the show, Peter revealed he plays badminton and listens to his cakes - and the handy tip paid off as he won high praise from Paul Hollywood and Sue Perkins.

It wasn't just the judges who had praise for the Accounting and Finance student  - as he also won a legion of fans on Twitter, with one saying he "must be protected at all costs".

One Bake Off fan took to social media and wrote: "Peter melts my heart."

Another tweeted: "Early to call it from one episode but I think I’m on Team Peter."

Meanwhile another wrote: "Peter is adorable".

One fan joked: "If Peter gets kicked out next week, we riot."

Another commented: "Badminton, wheat free, listens to his cakes baker Peter is this year’s “must be protected at all costs.”
