Great British Bake Off's Selasi set to open bakery in London

The nation has been catapulted into mourning since Selasi Gbormittah was voted off the Great British Bake Off. The affable, charismatic contestant who was so chilled he spent much of his time horizontal - observing his cakes from the comfort of the carpet - was a favourite amongst many.

But never fear, since his departure last night, the contestant has wasted no time and has already announced he is opening a bakery in West London.

Gbormittah, who became the ninth contestant to be voted off the show last night, also revealed he was planning a motorbike and baking tour across Europe.

“I love banking but I’m hoping to open a bakery somewhere in west London in the foreseeable future,” the baker, who works as a banker in his day job, told the Radio Times

“My immediate adventure, however, is a motorbike/baking tour across Europe which I’m currently planning. I hope to share all the recipes I learn in a book.”

The contestant, who can eat 12 doughnuts in 13 minutes, also spoke of how “addictive” he found baking, saying that a couple of times a week he would find himself up until the early hours preparing baked goods.

After his departure, he said he had come out of the experience "a much much better baker” and being on the show was “overwhelming and humbling”.
