It’ll be The Great British Puke Off if anyone bakes a cheese souffle in the tent next series.
New Bake Off host Matt Lucas will struggle to sample all the delicious dishes as he can’t eat cheese.
“I really, really, really don’t like it,” he admits. “I have an intolerance to it – it makes me sick. I don’t like the taste or the smell. I can’t eat it – it makes me feel very ill.”
His intolerance means he will be unable to sample cheese scones, cheesecake or cheese biscuits when he replaces Sandi Toksvig as host alongside Noel Fielding.
But he’d be happy with a sweet substitution. “I’d eat white choc-olate instead,” he joked, during Vice’s virtual End of the World Dinner Party this week.
Matt, 46, also (over)shared a story about a trip to Disneyland with his pal, Hollywood actress Rebel Wilson, last summer.
“I wasn’t feeling great, but you would have to feel really bad to cancel a trip to Disneyland,” he said.
Horrifyingly, he was struck down with an unexpected bout of gastroenteritis. “I s*** my pants,” he admitted. “It was really horrible.”
Hope there are no more soggy bottoms in the tent…
The former Little Britain star said about his new role at the time: "I'm chuffed to bits to be joining the most delicious show on television.
"I can't wait to break bread with Noel, Prue and Paul and meet the brilliant bakers. And bearing in mind my love of cake, I've already ordered some much larger trousers in anticipation. See you in the tent!"
