The Great British Bake Off star Maggie has broken her silence after facing some harsh criticism from Paul Hollywood last week.
Following a controversial comment from GBBO judge Paul Hollywood, the retired nurse and midwife was left in tears as she struggled with biscuit week.
Maggie, 70, quickly became known for sharing a lot of similarities with Prue Leith, with Noel Fielding making a joke that he felt like he was a chimney sweep in a Charles Dickens story when the two of them spoke together.
In last week's episode, Paul compared her to a school child as he rated her biscuits.
He said if he was giving her a school report, "she must try harder."
GBBO fans were quick to take to social media to defend the 70 year old baker, many slamming for Paul for making her cry.
Despite struggling to rise to the challenge with her interactive biscuit toy, Maggie was given a second chance.
"We must protect Maggie at all costs." On fan tweeted.
However, she has now broken her silence and she seems to be inspired by Paul's criticism.
On Instagram, Maggie, the seaside baker, announced she had joined Twitter, adding: “Taking on board the ‘could try harder’ comments on my showstopper I have decided to take the same approach to my social media! You can now follow me on Twitter! (@seasside_baker)”
Tonight's episode (Tuesday October 5) the bakers will be putting their own twist on a classic Italian focaccia as it's bread week, usually a challenge for those who aren't familiar with bread.
Presenters Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas oversee the marathon that is bread week, with three tricky challenges set by judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood.
The Great British Bake Off airs each and every Tuesday from 8pm until 9.30pm on Channel 4.
Episodes are also available for fans to catch up with via the All 4 streaming service and on demand hub.
